We were very surprised to find this May bug (otherwise known as a “cockchafer” although not without a lot of sniggering) on a walk through a field in Norfolk. Not just because it’s quite a big beetle, but because it’s mid-July!

We finally manage to get a walk up the most local of our hills today. We've been prevented for months by a combination of lockdown and idiot townies breaking said lockdown and swarming up the hill in droves blocking the local paths and lanes.

Thankfully, sanity now seems to have prevailed.

The Wrekin (pronounced ree-kin) is a mere mile from us and takes you up 1100' in a mile or so.

We met this peacock butterfly on one of the paths.

I'll share more pics from up on high once I've had a chance to sort them all out!

The Wrekin (pronounced ree-kin) is our most local hill. It rises 1100' in about a mile or so.

The horse chestnuts (conkers) were fruiting as we climbed out. Early signs of Autumn already!
