Crossposting some items from my latest blogpost. I had some past posts of the giant fish in our lake. Despite our long stay here we don't see them often. But last week we spotted a fin circling around...

I daresay the swirling patterns of its movement are particularly obvious because of the algae just below the surface.
Our amaryllis were in bloom recently, all of them popping up around the same time.

What I liked about this sunset pic was how the water reflection made it look like the shape on an eye -- one that was closing.

Usually they're not near the surface and the lake is too wavy or ripply to be able to see beneath it. For whatever reason this fish was spending a good deal of time swimming at the surface that day and it was back the following day as well. But we haven't seen it since early last week.
