These pictures are mostly from the savanna and prairie garden. See the forest garden and south lot, and the flowerbeds and house yard.
This row of hedges forms the outer windbreak.

This row of small trees forms the inner windbreak.

These daffodils have white petals and tiny, dark orange cups.

These multi-flowered daffodils are bright yellow.

Flower buds on the redbud tree in the windbreak are just starting to show pink. Redbuds produce flowers first, and then the heart-shaped leaves emerge later.

This is the wildflower garden.

These flowers are still going.

The jagged leaves are yellow coneflowers.

The oval leaves with red stems are purple coneflowers.

This purple crocus is still blooming in the savanna.

Snowdrops are almost done blooming.

Look at the base of the flowers and you can see the seedpods starting to form.

The prairie garden is now a riot of daffodils. That big brown patch in the foreground is big bluestem. I spent much of today raking off the dead stems and I'm still not done.

This is the densest patch of daffodils.

Here a peach-cupped daffodil blooming beside a yellow-cupped one.

This might be one of the double daffodils. They don't have cups, just a mass of ruffled petals.

Black raspberry leaves are getting bigger.

Cup plants are sending up leaves. These things get up to 10 feet tall and sport masses of yellow flowers. The name comes from how the big leaves wrap around the square stem, catching water.

This is the view looking southeast into the ritual meadow.

The standing snag and log used to be a maple tree.

We burned off the firepit yesterday. Today I hauled the grass stems over here, so now it has a waist-high pile of that.

This rabbit stopped and stared at me from the path to the parking lot. It was only about 10 feet away.

Date: 2022-04-13 10:40 am (UTC)I was very excited yesterday to see my raspberry bush and redbud tree starting to bloom. Recent near-freezing nights have delayed things in my area, but this week should be milder and I'll keep my eyes open for lots of happy budlings.

Date: 2022-04-14 02:33 am (UTC)There are now many daffodils with peach or pink coloring. Today my father asked me to pick out our daffodil order for fall planting, and there was a pink assortment so I got some of those. :D Peach colors are usually filed under "pink" but you might want to check "orange" too.
