Goose Parade, Duckling Flotilla and Clouds

My partner went for a walk which was delayed by this goose procession. From the looks of the sidewalk they had been hanging out in this area for a while.





Another photo of our most recent duckling batch. Unfortunately construction of some kind has been going on around the edge of the lake for weeks and I daresay we won't be seeing any ducks around for a while.

Apparently it does, as the city has been awash in Canada geese for over 10 years and would rather host far fewer of them.

Purposeful geese always makes me wonder what they're up to.

The ducklings are great. I've seen plenty of goslings this year at all fuzziness stages, br only one distant collection of ducklings.

It's such a pity geese are so messy because they're always great fun to watch! This group looks like they're about to make an assult on their enemy :-)

Nice! You may already know this, but at this time of year Canada Geese are molting their flight feathers (or haven't grown any yet, if they hatched this year) so they can't fly. That's why we see so many goose processions blocking traffic in the summer, it's actually the only way they can cross the road! Not that they care about inconveniencing us anyway. :)

I did not know that, very interesting! I assumed that part of it was that the goslings could not keep up with parents, so I guess evolution tied into that timing.

Yes! I'll have some more photos coming in a few weeks. There was a flock of at least 60 geese we saw this morning.

The coloring on those clouds was something.
